Abstract:

With the first papers on zeta functions of groups and rings published barely 30 years ago, zeta functions have become important tools in various areas of asymptotic group and ring theory. In this talk I will introduce the nonspecialists informally to this comparatively young subject, and share some key results and developments that have been made.
