  • Title:  Introduction to Supersymmetric Field Theories

  • Abstract:

Quantum field theories have been an important source of exciting mathematics in the last few decades. In particular, supersymmetric field theories form a primary class of examples, study of which led to subjects such as mirror symmetry and the theory of Seiberg-Witten invariants. In this lecture series, we aim to provide a gentle introduction to supersymmetric field theories. In the first lecture, we discuss what one means by a field theory and introduce supersymmetry algebras. In the second lecture, we explain some concrete examples of supersymmetric field theories. Time permitting, we discuss the idea of a twist, which is a crucial step for applications to mathematics.
